After the terrible year that was 2021 with a prolapsed disc I am taking all the precautions I can with my body, including finding the right products meaning I slept aligned and wake up refreshed. I’ve had a natural latex pillow for years but it was time for me to admit that it had had its day. So I set to work on researching a pillow that would support me but also wasn't made of down or memory foam (being allergic to the former and worried about the toxic qualities of the latter). And it mattered to me that earth friendly materials were used.
I went down a rabbit hole of researching pillows, poring over reviews and studying the images. Weighing up pros and cons and thinking about practicality. I came across the Nox pillow early in my search and kept coming back to it. I dropped Brightr a line and they kindly sent me a couple of Nox pillows which was so perfect as it meant I could test them at home and in the van.
The Nox pillows have three layers of Refinex fibres - an up cycled filling made from recycled plastic bottles that feels as soft as down. The cover also have copper woven in to provide a hypoallergenic sleep environment and the cases also have benefit for hair and skin.
The pillows came rolled up in a lovely cheerful box and you give them a good fluff up before sleeping on them. I went for the high loft (all three layers) and found this to be perfect for me. As I rolled the pillows out the box I wondered how such a soft, light pillow could give me support but a month or so in I am overjoyed to find that the Nox bounce back every time, they are so comfortable and I’m not waking up with shoulder and neck ache as I was before using the Nox.
It matters to me that I’m comfortable on the road and often when staying in huts, hotels and AirBNBs the only pillow options are down which make me feel awful so I love having a light pillow I know I can rely on for a good nights sleep. It also comes with a silky slip cover so I can roll the pillow back up and it takes little space.
I love the ethos of these pillows and they come with a risk free guarantee of 30 days. Any pillows that are sent back are donated to charities or animal shelters.
